Storage tanks are essential in firefighting, as they ensure a consistent and ready supply of water. Regular maintenance and inspections are vital to ensure their integrity and functionality, especially in fire protection applications, where they play a crucial role in emergency response efforts.
Sprinkler storage tanks are visually inspected on a quarterly basis for integrity, condition, damage and any evidence of leakage. The float valve is exercised to ensure it does not seize closed when the water is being used. On a 2 yearly basis the tank is internally inspected using a remote operated submersible vehicle and after 10 years the tank is isolated and drained, and an internal inspection carried out.
